Who We Are

Transition Services for Moves and Estates, LLC was incorporated in 2008. It is owned and operated by Sandra Jorgenson, a resident of Alexandria, Virginia since 1980.

Sandra attended her first estate sale in 1985 and quickly became a devoted estate sales hobbyist for many years. She conducted her first sale for her own aging family members in 1992. She founded her first company in 1996, which she ran independently for four years. She incorporated with business partners in 2000, dissolving that company eight years later to become independent again with the creation of Transition Services for Moves and Estates, LLC in 2008.

Sandra views estate sales a bit like reincarnation, allowing treasures, collectables, and useful items to move on to a "new life." She is glad to be able to help people during what can be a difficult time, knowing full well that parting with possessions can be emotionally painful and physically exhausting. She is prized for her expertise in estate liquidation as well as for her kindness.

Sandra is grateful for her friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Teddy Marchant (right) started her hobby of estate sale shopping when she arrived in Alexandria to help with the family business, Shuman's Bakery, in 1965 and has kept it up ever since. Donna Lee Wilson (second from the right) is retired after 30 years of dealing in antiques in the Alexandria area. Elaine Rudick (not pictured) was the first to join Sandra, based on her enthusiasm for vintage and interesting things. Leif Jorgenson (left) directs the "items-interesting-to-men department" and greets customers. He and Sandra married in 1980.
